Facetime Communications (2005-2006)

The samples I have from Facetime got lost in an unfortunate computer accident. Here is a screenshot from their website. They had no UE program, so I redesigned all products, provided styleguide and design paradigms, and fought to establish user experience as a priority for Facetime...

Facetime Communications, cont.

It worked. The new UI's were credited as having contributed to the company's 255% year-of-year increase in revenue.

Epicentric/Vignette (2000 - 2005)

AT&T Labs (1998-2000)

I was part of the coolest group in the Labs - the Internet Applications Group, aka Rapid Prototyping Group. But like all of the labs, our projects never saw the light of day. This one came the closest: an early prototype to allow customers to provision their own services online..

Going way way back: Books That Work (1993 - 1996)

...was one of the first consumer multimedia companies to provide consumers with simplified CADD and 3D visualization products. BTW was my first job in the industry, but within 2.5 years, I was promoted to the UI Director for the indoor products line, which included their flagship products: 3D Kitchen and 3D Home (no screenshot of the latter, which came long later -- need to find them...)

Books That Work, cont.

3D Kitchen was featured in all sorts of publications and on TV (I was mentioned by name on This Old House ;-) The UI trope -- "if you don't make it look like a book, people won't know how to use it" -- and 3D quality are super old school now, but were quite revolutionary for the time.
